Need to get out of the house for a change of scene?

Bring the kids down for a fun playtime with other families and meet some new friends. There is a big, bright room full of toys and fun activities for children ages 0-5 years old. Activities include playtime, art activities, stories, circle time, and a snack. It is a great chance to get connected to other programs at Saanich Neighbourhood Place and just to get out of the house for a change of scenery!

Coffee and tea are always on!
Come by for a visit!

Suggested donation $2.00/family

Come visit our new drop-in: a Breastfeeding Cafe! All families with babies are welcome and topics surrounding breastfeeding will be discussed. This is a great time to share any challenges you face or to learn more about breastfeeding, even if you aren't currently!

Our drop-ins are child centered. This means that children will determine the direction of their play. Art materials are usually available at the craft table. An organized craft will ONLY happen on special occasions such as Christmas and Halloween. Children need the opportunity to create without the confinements and boundaries of a craft.

GUIDELINES FOR GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR VISIT!

•  You are responsible for minding your own child and making sure they are safe.

•  Please monitor their activities. Teach them to treat people, toys and equipment with respect.

•  Encourage creative play, not aggressive play. Please leave all toy swords, guns, knives, and action figures at home.

•  If your child is playing aggressively, please redirect them to another activity.

•  It is okay if your child doesn't want to participate in snack or circle, but please don't disturb others. You are always welcome to use the outside playground if you feel your child needs to burn off some energy.

•  Be flexible. Your child may tire more quickly at a busy drop-in. Come when you can-leave when you need to.

•  Help to tidy up the toys your child was playing with and the craft your child was involved in.

•  Help to set up, give out, and tidy up the snack. Our volunteers and staff work hard and we need your help.

Together you and the staff will work to keep the space safe. However, staff will intervene and redirect if:

•  An older child is using an infant/toddler toy inappropriately.

•  Children are climbing away from the climbing toys. For example, it's not okay for a child to be climbing on the furniture, tables, or shelves.

•  Caregivers are not minding their children.

•  Children are engaging in violent or aggressive play that caregivers haven't noticed.

When a child is making a mess you can be sure that they are learning something!
