Families C.A.N (Families Connect And Nurture)
Next session: January 12 - April 8, 2009; Mondays & Wednesdays; 11am - 1pm
Families C.A.N is a 13 week parenting program that runs twice a week. The program builds on parents' strengths and capacity to nurture their children. Priority is given to families who live in the Saanich area.
Enriched child minding, transportation, meals, parent education, one to one support, life skills training and peer support are all components of the program.
Topics covered include: discipline, child development, self care of parents, safety, health and nutrition. Guest speakers are brought in to speak on specialty subjects.
Nobody's Perfect
Next session: September 17 - October 22, 2008; Wednesdays; 11am - 1pm
Nobody's Perfect is an education and support program for parents of children from birth to age 5. It helps parents develop the knowledge, skills and self-confidence essential to child-raising. Equally important, it encourages the development of support networks among parents, families and friends.
Nourishing Infant Emotional Development
Next session: October 1 - November 5, 2008; Wednesdays; 2 - 3:30pm
A six week attachment-based education group aimed to support the infant-parent attachment. Agenda:
- Attachment and parental sensitivity
- Infant communication
- Infant brain development
- Understanding infant behaviour
- Parental needs
- The early years last forever
Group Triple P
Next session: November 5 - December 17, 2008; Wednesdays; 11am - 1pm
Triple P is an international program that is just beginning to become
available to families and organizations in Victoria. Group Triple P is for parents of children 3-10 years old. In a Group Triple P course you will learn about:
- Effective parenting strategies
- How to promote your child's development
- How to manage common behaviour problems
- Principles to help you deal with almost any situation
Pathways Triple P
Next session: September 15 - October 27, 2008; Mondays; 1pm - 3pm
Pathways Triple P will cover the components of Group Triple P as well as bring awareness to parental anger. The focus will be on helping parents acquire new skills in managing their own emotions and behaviours along with those of their children.
Parent-Child Mother Goose Program
Next Infant (0-12 months) session: September 8 - October 27; Mondays; 11am - 12pm
Next Toddler (12-30 months) session: November 3 - December 15; Mondays; 11am - 12pm
The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program® is a group experience for parents and their babies and young children. Air rhymes, songs, and stories are all used to give the children healthy early experiences with language and communication.
Teaching is directed to the adults. The children participate as is appropriate to their stage of development and inclination.
What you as a parent will get out of the Mother Goose program:
