Food Security

Our Food Security programs provide families with access to a variety of useful at-home skills in group classes, as well as our weekly Family Dinners and additional resources including hamper and Good Food Box pick-up, food rescue, and weekly bread donations.

Enjoy cooking in a group and taking delicious affordable meals home to your family. Community Kitchens run Wednesday and Friday with a different focus for each kitchen. There is a cost per person to help cover the cost of ingredients.  Childminding is provided for $2/child. Registration is required.

Join us every Wednesday from 5:30–7:00 pm, and share a nutritious meal in a family friendly environment. The suggested donation is $5 per family of 4. Sign up is required, call us each week to register at 250-360-1148 by Tuesday!

Food Skills for Families (also known as Food Sense) was developed, and is sponsored by Diabetes Canada promoting a low fat, low salt, and low sugar diet. Learn how to cook healthy, simple, and affordable meals, new cooking skills, and simple ways to shop on a budget. The program requires a six-week commitment (1 session per week), It’s an amazing opportunity for learning, cooking and sharing meals. Childminding is provided and registration is required. During office hours, and subjet to availability, bread or fresh produce can be found in our Community Food Boxes. Just take what you need so there’s some for everyone. Remember to bring your own bag.

Community Food Boxes can be found, when available, in our hallway opposed the reception, at 3100 Tillicum Rd.
